Scientific Operations Manager
Position Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Scientific Operations Manager to oversee and coordinate the execution of our research projects, particularly those funded by Biodiversa+ and Interreg Europe. The successful candidate will ensure seamless workflows, effective communication among partners and researchers, adherence to grant funding guidelines, and contributing to the operations of our research centre.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Coordination: Manage and synchronize the activities of multiple research projects, ensuring alignment with our strategic objectives and adherence with the specific requirements of Biodiversa+ and Interreg Europe grants.
Workflow Management: Develop and implement efficient workflows to optimize research processes, resource allocation, and project timelines.
Stakeholder Communication: Serve as the primary liaison between internal teams (researchers, project managers, finance) and external partners, facilitating clear and consistent communication to ensure collaboration and project success.
Performance Monitoring: Track project progress against timeslines, identify potential risks or delays, and implement corrective actions to ensure efficient project management.
Collaborate with the Project Manager for Financial Oversight: Collaborate with the project manager, the finance team to monitor project budgets, ensuring fiscal responsibility and alignment with funding provisions.
Qualifications:
Advanced degree (Master’s or Ph.D.) in a relevant scientific discipline.
Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of effectively engaging with diverse stakeholders.
Demonstrated problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
Proven experience in managing scientific research projects, preferably within the context of European research grants is an advantage.
About Us: The Sustainable Finance Research Centre is dedicated to advancing research in sustainable finance, focusing on multidisciplinary impact-driven research at the intersections of natural science, IT, social science and science policy. Our recent successes include securing grants from Biodiversa+ as project partners for BioSolar, which explores biodiversity finance to fund nature-positive outcomes in solar farms. Our other grant is NATUREFIN, where we are consortium leaders seeking to align regional development policy with sustainable finance regulation in six European regions.

Responsibilities:
As a Research Assistant at SFRC, you will:
Contribute to research on sustainable finance topics such as biodiversity risks, ESG metrics, and transformative financial solutions.
Assist in data collection, management, analysis, and visualization for multidisciplinary research projects.
Collaborate with international academic and industry partners on European-funded projects (e.g., Biodiversa+, Interreg Europe).
Support the preparation of academic publications and conference presentations.
Gain valuable experience in sustainable investment, geospatial analysis, and biodiversity finance.
